Every company is basically selling the same product.

With that said, If your a person who expects a quality product, no matter how simple it may be, there are a few concerns worth mentioning that can help you make your decision on the question “who should do the work for me”?

Who should do the work for me?

-Someone who is capable of using the aerator machine.

The aerator machine is a quality piece of equipment that puts 1 inch plugs into the soil helping control lawn thatch as well as reduce soil compaction reducing the lawns watering needs. More on Aerations

It is a difficult tool to use because of the weight and the pull of the machine. The Aerator weighs much more than a lawnmower and has a speed that requires a near jog to keep up with making it a difficult machine to use when making close quarter turns.

This can make it a difficult machine to manage for smaller or untrained employees many times resulting in people running the aerator into trees or property causing damage!

–Someone who will do a thorough job

People who do the aeration’s will service many homes in one day and are expected to do them in a timely manner creating a sense of urgency.

This is why some employees may not do a thorough job and leave certain hard to reach areas untouched.

-Someone who will not damage your property

Although accidents do happen due to the nature of the industry many companies are more accident prone than others.

This is usually due to:

-Hiring employees unable to do the work.

-Not putting the time into training employees.

-Bad company ethics and practices.

-Or any other miscellaneous possibility.

The best way to defend against this negligence is to check company testimonials and ratings making sure they have consistently performed well.

As an employee at Arborscape who has personally done several aeration’s I can testify that we take into account all the above information and require a quality job done by our aeration crew.

Congratulations on buying your new house! Now that you have made an exciting new investment it is time to consider how you can optimize your new home.

The lawn is a great way to add value while making your new investment look great. The question you may be pondering is where to start; especially if the past owner didn’t maintain the lawn up to your standards.

The lawn is a great place to begin because it’s the part of the yard that you can see results quickly unlike many of the plants and trees that can take many years to have any real impact.

What is your lawn’s situation? Do you already have a nice lawn but it needs maintenance done on it such as aeration, lawn fertilization, or weed pulling? Or maybe you have dirt for a lawn or it is in such bad shape that it needs to be completely re-landscaped.

If you believe it would be best to keep your current lawn do your research and find out if you can do the maintenance yourself or if you need to call your local lawn care specialist company to optimize the job.

Now if you are in a situation where you need a whole new lawn it is imperative you do your research.

The Englewood/Colorado area is notoriously hard to grow in because the area is extremely dry and lacks the large amount of moisture that many plants need. The best way to make sure you create the lawn that makes your home standout is to ask an Englewood lawn care specialist.

These lawn care professionals can answer anything and everything yard related making them an excellent resource for your lawn. Some example questions they encounter frequently are:

What plants will flourish in your unique environment.

Which trees are prone to disease.

How much maintenance a given lawn will need.

What kind of fertilizing and watering schedule should be used.

No matter what your new home buying situation is lawn care in Denver will help make your investment more valuable and make your home standout.

“In today’s world where news travels at the click of a mouse and technology changes at the speed of now, people are finding balance and purpose tapping into the power of plants and cultivating a ‘new good life.’

Recent garden trends, unveiled at the FloraHolland Trade Fair and reported by the Garden Media Group, focused upon the benefits of plants as the 3 V’s: Vital, Vogue and Voyage. Plants are necessary for health (Vital); for their versatility and ability to elicit emotions (Vogue); and for their cross cultural influence (Voyage).

“Plants are no longer a luxury, but a necessity for our lives,” says Susan McCoy, trendspotter and outdoor living expert.

“The most overlooked aspect of spring lawn care is weed prevention: the key to a lawn free of crabgrass and other stubborn un-wanteds that crop up in the yard when the heat is really on in July. “Grassy weeds are most easily dealt with when they are completely dormant,” David Bates, nursery owner in Nashville, Tenn. says.

In Denver this means treating the lawn with a pre-emergent herbicide in March or April.

One of the biggest pruning mistakes is cutting off branches in the wrong place. Amateurs tend to leave too much of a stub when removing branches. Once the stub dies off, it creates and entry point for disease pathogens and destructive insects.

Unlike human beings, trees don’t regenerate tissue. While our skin replaces itself, trees grow new tissue around wounds and compartmentalizes them. Once a tree compartmentalizes and old wound, it has a much better chance of survival.

Efforts should also be made not to wound tree trunks with lawnmowers, tractors and other machines. Trunk wounds create opportunities for destructive fungi.

A natural defense system is built into trees, in the swollen area at the base of branches, known as the “collar”—right where the trunk intersects the branch. Flush cuts are important to make, provided you don’t remove the collar. Proper pruning cuts should be make just beyond the collar, without leaving a stub, but still leaving the swollen area.

Many of our Englewood lawn service clients are asking, ” Why are we getting so many toadstools in the lawn?”

And how do we get rid of them. Don’t use fungicides or other methods as it would just be a waste of time. Most toadstool fungi will not harm the lawn or garden plants.

Toadstools or mushrooms emerge above the soil zone during especially wet seasons. Here in Colorado, our lawn and plant heath care manager can’t remember a rainier spring then we’ve had this year. According to North Dakota State University, above average rainfall can lead to the emergence of toadstools in lawns.

Get a free lawn analysis

If you’re bothered by the mushrooms, there is little you can do to prevent them. You can control them however. The simple fact is that they have been in your lawn all along. They have developed below the service, decomposing dead tree roots, stumps, and other organic debris. When a wetter spring occurs, they grow more quickly and “produce their fruiting structures.”

These are the toadstools you see.

In fact, they are are beneficial contributors, recycling material to keep soil healthy, feed worms and allow proper water transfer in the root zone. You can reduce the number and frequency of mushrooms by removing thatch and other organic matter to feed the fungus.

Proper lawn care and avoiding over-fertilization should reduce the presence of fungi and toadstools.

If they are a blemish on your lawn or you’re concerned that children or animals might try to eat them, remove them with a rake.

Usually toadstools will grow randomly around the yard. A certain species, known as fairy ring mushrooms come up annually and former circles of mushrooms. Each year these rings will increase in size. You can tell them sometimes by the yellow or dead grass that they surround.

These can’t be eradicated except through radical grass replacement strategy. In other words, killing the mushrooms and the grass around it. The NDSU Estension site says: “The lawn must be well-fertilized using a nitrogen fertilizer. This should be done several times a year.

T he lawn should then be heavily watered to a depth of ten to twenty-four inches. This will provide enough water and plant food for both the fairy ring mushrooms and the grass, allowing the grass to grow fairly well in spite of the fairy ring.”
